So I managed to whip up a pretty good proposal for that grant I was telling you about. I had to get up early to let the electrician in to fix the fan in the bathroom and I thought, since I was up, I might as well smash out the last bits of the proposal and be done with it.
While I was smashing it out, the electrician did some smashing of his own – my bathroom window. Now, I need to get up bright and early on Monday to let a glazier in for measuring, then a later day next week to have the window fitted and finally another day to get the electrician in for the original job.
Add to this that apparently – since yesterday mind you – the grant I’m applying for has been moved forward until Sunday. What a pain! Today I was supposed to be done with house repairs and imminent grant applications and now they’re still occupying my life!
I had a shift cancelled for next Monday, which I didn’t find out until after I’d booked something before and after it. Now I have a gap not quite big enough to warrant going home in between, nor is it of a size where I can fit a full something else in to make it worthwhile. I don’t know how people manage to book meeting after meeting and not go batty. I’m organised and punctual and it still does my head in.
Regardless, the point here is that it never stops. Whatever you plan, something comes up and pushes something else backward or forward or sideways. You just have to make do as best you can and, maybe, plan for a stretch in the future somewhere that no time can touch – and book a holiday…
